The Benefits of Having a Site Blog

THE BENEFITS OF HAVING A SITE BLOG
May 18, 2021 |  Marketing, Social Media, Business Tips |  Google, small business, business growth, networking, Facebook, SEO, digital marketing

By Adam Kiesel, NPI, Inc.'s Digital Marketing Assistant

Nowadays, it seems every business, no matter its size, has some sort of blog. In fact, there are over 600 million active blogs across the world. These cover topics on everything from sports, to clothing, and lifestyle advice just to name a few. With as popular as blogging has become and will only continue to be, let’s take a look at the question, “What can blogs do for you?”

Pump Up Your SEO
Search Engine Optimization or “SEO” is a major part of your business marketing plan. You want to get the most out of your website to appear higher in the search results to get customer traffic to your page. A blog is one simple and effective way to help you inch closer to the top of the SEO summit. Search engines use fresh content to determine where to place a page in the results. Having a blog that’s updated on a consistent basis provides that fresh information to index you above your competition. Also, including keywords in your blogs will make them more relevant to customer’s searches.

Incorporate it Into Social Media
Keeping your social accounts up-to-date is just as important as keeping your website fresh. Blogs provide you with another resource you can use for your posts. All you need to do is copy the link to the article, come up with a quick caption, add some relevant hashtags, and post! Your followers will be able to easily share the blog to their own pages, essentially giving you free marketing exposure. If you write about a relatively uncommon topic, it can get a great conversation started around your business.

Establish Yourself as an Industry Expert
Being a licensed inspector, you have extensive knowledge of a home’s components that the average person might not. You can showcase your education by writing a blog on a topic that’s useful to homeowners and agents. It could be a subject relative to your current market or a breaking industry news story. Having first-hand experience means that readers will be more likely to trust what you’re saying and how it pertains to them. Clients will have confidence in knowing they made the right choice to go with a knowledgeable inspector.

Use it for Future Reference
While it’s best to share your newest blogs, sometimes it’s beneficial to refer to an older one. This type of evergreen content focuses on items that don’t change often, therefore making them relevant for longer. If you get a question from a customer about one of these topics, you can include a link to its blog with the other information you give them. Keeping your old articles archived like this creates a library full of useful tips for your clients.
